Common Questions

How can I find out more about Mental Health services?

Make sure you see our resources page. Also, you can call Steininger's Support Desk at (856) 428-1300.

What services does Steininger offer?

We offer a variety of services for adults and children. Our focus is on people who have serious and persistent mental illness. See our services page for a detailed description.

Who is eligible for services?

For many of our services you must be a resident of Camden County New Jersey, and have been diagnosed with a psychiatric disorder or emotional disturbance. Other requirements may apply. For more information on specific service eligibility see our services page, or contact us.

Do you provide services to children?

Yes - we help children who are experiencing a psychiatric emergency as well as youth who have an emotional disturbance and need follow-up support following a psychiatric hospitalization. See Youth Services.

How do I pay for services?

In many cases our services are reimbursable through Medicaid and some private insurers. For people with no health insurance a fee is set based on the ability to pay. However, no one is denied services because of an inability to pay.

Can you help me find a place to live?

We provide housing search assistance to people who have a mental illness and are homeless. We also have a three-week residence for people who need a safe place to stay in order to recover from a psychiatric crisis. A first stop for housing search assistance however, is the Camden County Board of Social Services who can link you to area boarding homes and rooming houses.
